Covid positivity rate in Mysuru goes up, cases touch 1,892

Mysuru: There was a huge spike in Covid cases in Mysuru district on Sunday- more than double the number of cases compared to Saturday.

Mysuru district health officer, Dr K H Prasad, said with this exponential rise in positivity rate from 8.37 percent (729 cases including 85 children) on Saturday to 27.07percent (1892 cases including 142 children) on Sunday, most cases are predicted to be Omicron.

At present in Mysuru, among 4584 adults above 18, who have tested positive, 14 are on ventilator, 49 are on oxygen, 152 are on general beds at dedicated covid hospitals, 12 are at dedicated covid health cares, 94 are isolated at covid care centers and the rest are isolated at home. Also there are 663 active cases of children who have tested positive for covid 19. At the district covid hospital, one kid is on oxygen, ten are in general beds, and 22 kids with mild symptoms are in covid care centres. And the rest of the children, who have no symptoms or very mild symptoms are isolated at home, he said.

At present while there are 4389 active cases in Mysuru city, there are 277 active cases in Mysuru taluk, 320 cases in TNarsipur taluk, 141 in Nanjangud taluk, 134 in Hunsur, 62 in HDKote, 105 in KRNagar, 86 in Periyapatna, 33 in Sargur, 56 in Saligrama. So besides the three covid care centres in Mysuru city including the 700 bedded covid care centre at Mandakalli in Mysuru city, the district administration has started two covid care centres each in all taluks and one in HD Kote. Meanwhile 39 policemen who went to provide security for the Mekedatu Padayatra of the Congress, have tested positive.
