Pavan D: The creator who believes writing is the real ‘craft’ of content
Bengaluru
In the sprawling, vibrant, and often chaotic metaverse of content creation, a few guides don’t just point the way – they draw the map, craft the compass, and navigate the most intricate digital terrains with unmistakable flair. Among them is Pavan D, a Bengaluru-based creator known to his wide online audience as “pavandeee” on Instagram, where he has built a loyal community of 77,600 followers.
He’s not just a creator; he’s the architect of the click, the sage of the algorithm, blending insightful tech analysis, sharp-witted commentary, and an infectious enthusiasm for emerging trends. Whether he’s breaking down the latest film with incisive reviews, offering straight-talking insights on social media strategy, or simply showing viewers how to lead a more connected, intentional life, Pavan’s content feels like an essential download.
Learnt it from YouTube!
“I initially started making videos just to make my friends laugh – it wasn’t a self-aware beginning,” Pavan told News Trail in an exclusive interview about his three-year journey in content creation. He began posting videos on Instagram during the COVID period and recalls being “chronically online” from a very young age. Growing up on YouTube at a time when Indian creators were only just entering the platform exposed him to the fundamentals of digital content long before he attempted it himself.
Watching global creators helped him understand algorithms, comedic timing, skit structure, and the basics of video production. So, when he finally started creating content, he was able to pick up skills quickly and improvise with ease. His familiarity with the digital ecosystem, combined with experience from his first internship as a social media manager, reassured him that he was moving in the right direction and pursuing something he genuinely enjoyed. This encouraged him to begin creating content more seriously in 2022.
Absurd, random and absolutely fun
He described how he soon recognised the potential for broader appeal and began experimenting with formats such as sketches and rants. Pavan noted that while he enjoyed his early work, he has since honed a more polished style. “I love that we’re branching out beyond the usual family sketches. Of course, they still have their place, but I’m happy to see more comedy coming out of the Bangalore and South Indian scene.
It’s refreshing to have something different from the very mainstream style of comedy,” he said, adding that this reflects a growing appetite for fresh comedic perspectives that South creators are actively meeting. His content blends comedy, quirky cinephile-style reviews, and the personification of inanimate objects – a mix he describes as absolutely absurd and delightfully random.
Maximising impact
“I’ve made writing my craft,” Pavan said, explaining that the key to keeping his content fresh and engaging is prioritising strong scripts over visuals. For him, writing a good script is a creative victory in itself. He added that creators should aim to keep production costs low while maximising output. Offering advice to aspiring creators, Pavan emphasised the importance of consistency. “Don’t panic when views don’t come in or when a video underperforms. The worst thing you can do to your content creation journey is to stop altogether,” he cautioned.
Pushing boundaries
Pavan says he has secured strong brand collaborations and is glad to fit into the metropolitan, English-speaking creator category, which helps him connect with a similar consumer base. He ensures high-quality content for brand deals and often assists with improved scripting so that the final output stands out. “While English-speaking creators are frequently approached by brands, regional creators are building larger and more dedicated audiences, which can be harder for others to achieve.
It’s great to finally see brands recognising the potential of South and regional creators,” he added. As he navigates his next steps, Pavan has committed to two immediate goals: diving deeper into stand-up comedy and elevating his content with superior visuals and enhanced scriptwriting.
