Don’t neglect pandemic, tread carefully; HDK

Bengaluru: The state government must not neglect the third wave of the pandemic as 41,000 positive cases were reported in a single day which is a warning bell, said former CM and Janata Dal (Secular) leader H.D. Kumaraswamy.

Talking to media persons here on Wednesday, he said the spread must be checked at any cost and at the same time, the government must tread carefully taking into account the prevailing conditions and the lives of the common people. “I have already given my opinion on the weekend and night curfew. There is no unanimity in the ruling party. When they themselves are confused, how can they manage the situation? If somebody is opposing the night curfew they are top BJP leaders themselves,’’ he said.

Kumaraswamy also stressed the need for the government to do the balancing act. On the one hand it has to control the pandemic and on the other hand, it has to address the problems of the common people. Lives and livelihood are at stake in the current situation. People were eking out their livelihood by doing menial and odd jobs and decisions taken by the government must not affect them.

Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai must consider the experts’ report on the one hand, and the sentiments of the public on the other hand before arriving at a decision, he added.
