Bengaluru: The Congress will launch an agitation against officials if they fail to book cases against BJP leaders who have violated Covid norms, said KPCC President D.K. Shivakumar.

He told the media here on Thursday that Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has instructed the Chief Secretary to book cases against all those who have breached Covid Appropriate Behavior (CAB). Now, it is upto the officials to take action against these leaders failing which the Congress will hold a protest.

“We are not going to keep quiet if the government files cases only against our leaders and does not initiate action against ruling party leaders. The agitation we had planned will be staged”. Shivakumar also said he had already spoken to former CMr Siddaramaiah in this regard.

On the confusion within the BJP over Corona curbs, the Congress leader said no such restrictions have been imposed in Hyderabad but the government of Karnataka was harassing people in the name of curbs. The government is free to take any decision on health matters but that must not hit the livelihood of small and petty traders. Will banks waive off interest on loans? Will the government waive off rent on its buildings? There was a lot of justification for the hotel industry seeking relazation of Covid curbs, he added.
