Bengaluru: Health and Medical Education Minister Dr K. Sudhakar said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai would take a decision on the relaxation of Covid curbs based on scientific data.

“The government is not interested in troubling common people. Whatever decisions we take will be in the interest of the people at large to check the spread of the pandemic”, he told reporters here on Thursday.

Tomorrow’s meeting will decide on both the night curfew and weekend curfew. The next course of action would be decided on the basis of expert opinion. The meeting would evaluate the steps taken to check the virus, its effects and the condition of the virus, Dr Sudhakar said. He said experts have opined that the daily Corona cases in the third wave are likely to reach 1.2 lakh in the coming days. If curbs are imposed, the number of cases could be reduced to 70,000 to 80,000 cases. This would also be discussed in tomorrow’s meeting, he added. Asked whether it would be a ‘good Friday’ for people, the minister shot back saying :” I hope you know what good Friday means”.
