My Vote, My Right flags transparency concerns over Karnataka voter revision
Bengaluru
The My Vote, My Right coalition has expressed serious concerns over the large number of voters categorised under the ASDDO (Absent, Shifted, Duplicate, Dead and Others) list during Karnataka's ongoing electoral roll revision, urging the Election Commission of India (ECI) to increase transparency and extend the enumeration deadline.
Referring to a press release issued by the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Karnataka, the coalition noted that 1,10,59,288 voters have so far been classified as ASDDO. While the CEO stated that the ASDDO lists have been shared with political parties and Booth Level Officers (BLOs), and that voters can seek corrections until August 8 if they were wrongly marked, the coalition alleged that affected voters have not received any SMS or written notification informing them of their status.
It further claimed that several BLOs have refused to provide Enumeration Forms to voters after marking them as ‘Shifted’, leaving many unable to verify or correct their records. The coalition also criticised the absence of booth-wise ASDDO lists on the CEO's website, arguing that voters have no independent way to check the status of their Enumeration Forms.
Calling the current timeline inadequate, particularly for working-class and marginalised communities, My Vote, My Right demanded that the CEO publish and update booth-wise ASDDO lists daily with reasons for each classification. It also urged the ECI to extend the Enumeration Phase until September 30 to allow sufficient time for correcting errors and ensuring that eligible voters are not wrongfully excluded from the electoral rolls.
