Bengaluru: Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) health department is drawing flak for its alleged goof up of sending messages claiming to have administered vaccines to people who are no more.

BBMP Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta has feigned ignorance of such rumours and advised people to bring it to his notice if they come across such messages. “So far no one has brought it to my notice. I will initiate strict action if found BBMP employees sending such messages to people who are passed away due to Covid or other illness,’’ Gupta said.

The BBMP Chief Commissioner has made it clear that people who are in home isolation do not need a certificate after completing the isolation period of seven days from the BBMP health department. “As of now, there is no practice of issuing certificates to people in home isolation after testing positive for Covid. They will be considered as negative for Covid after completing the stipulated time (seven days) in home isolation,’’ he said.

Advising those in home isolation to produce the SMS received on their mobile phones on testing positive for Covid as a proof of completing home isolation after seven days, he said that BBMP health department would make arrangements, if need arises, to issue certificates to those completed home isolation.

He said that the BBMP health department has made arrangements to conduct RT-PCR test for those police and others who are participating in Republic Day rehearsal at Field Marshal Manekshaw Parade Ground. “It is a measure being taken to ensure participants are free from Covid. If any participant tests positive, he will not be allowed to take part in the Republic Day parade,’’ he said.
