No pact with any party: HDK

Bengaluru, Jan. 27 Former CM and JD(S) leader H.D. Kumaraswamy has ruled out a truck with any political party in the Assembly elections next year or the possibility of knocking on the doors of national parties.

“National parties had approached us after a fractured verdict in 2018. Our mission is 123 seats in the 2023 election and we must try to reach the target”, he told the media before the first meeting of the newcore committee here on Thursday.

Kumaraswamy also asserted that the media had wrongly interpreted his statement that no party would be able to do anything without the JD(S) after the 2023 polls. This did mean they would join the government in case other parties failed to get a full mandate, he said.

The party’s organisational work has slowed down because of the corona situation but internal organization work is going on. Commenting on CM Bommai’s statement that JD(S) would become flexible if no party gets a majority, Kumaraswamy said his party had never felt lost and it were national parties which knocked at their doors.
