We can defend as well as attack: Bommai

Bengaluru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommmai on Friday said he had a good team and he usually plays a ‘defensive’ game but if the need arises, he also knows how to launch a ‘blitzkrieg’ in a indirect message to the Opposition that he can play an attacking game as well.
Addressing a gathering after releasing a document on the achievements of his government in the last six months, Bommai said the state is passing through a peculiar situation. On the one hand, there were unprecedented floods owing to unseasonal rains and on the other hand, there was a health emergency due to Corona. The pandemic has not only ruined thousands of families but also the economy.
The State was facing a severe financial crisis but that has not deterred the government from spending enough on providing healthcare and relief to the flood-hit. The compensation has been hiked for farmers for crop loss. “Ours is a government which functions on humanity and empathy,’’ he said. The CM wanted people to not only be beneficiaries but also partners in development. Terms like social justice or equality must not remain on paper, he added.
