AFCON: CAN SALAH INSPIRE 7-TIME CHAMPIONS EGYPT?

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah will have a crucial role to play for Egypt, when they take on Cameroon in the semis.

Seven-time winners Egypt last won the title in 2010. Salah has been in supreme form this season and can help Egypt big time.

Egypt fi nished second in Group D before overcoming Ivory Coast on penalties (R16) and getting past Morocco in the quarters.

The Africa Cup of Nations has reached its business end and we have two semi-fi nal matches next.

“We must keep our feet on the ground because we cannot think too far ahead yet,” the 29-year-old Liverpool star said.

“We have to prepare for the big match against Cameroon and not start making dreams about the fi nal before the semi-fi nal.”

Salah scored the equaliser and set up the winner to inspire the Pharaohs’ 2-1 extra-time success over Morocco on Sunday. Salah, who has been involved in 64% of Egypt’s goals at the Nations Cup - nine of 14 - since he made his competition debut in 2017, paid tribute to Morocco and his teammates.

The final four: Burkina Faso will face Senegal in the first semi-final to be held on February 3 (12:30 am ). The other semi-final will be played between Cameroon and Egypt on February 4 (12:30 am)
