BJP, Cong feud in Kolar

Due to a political clash between Congress and BJP leaders, Section 144 has been imposed in Bangarpet town.
Congress MLA S.N. Narayanaswamy after consulting Urban Development Minister M.T.B. Nagaraj and local officials, had decided to inaugurate the building on February 2 but local BJP leaders alleged that they were ignored for the function and hence lobbied with their party functionaries resulted in cancellation of the inauguration programme.
With Narayanaswamy insistent on performing the puja and homa ceremony which BJP leaders opposed, local circle Inspector Sunil Kumar requested the tahsildar to impose Section 144 (prohibitory orders) in the town to prevent any untoward incident.
Narayanaswamy alleged that BJP leaders were jealous that only his name was inscribed on the inaugural plaque and wanted to postpone the programme. This is the first time in the history of Bangarpet that such an incident has happened and BJP leaders are solely responsible for it, he alleged.
When Municipal Chief Officer Yeshwant was contacted, he clarified that no municipal staffers will participate in the function since it is not a government organized event.
