Bengaluru: A 53-year-old First Division Assistant (FDA) attached to the Prisons Department was arrested for trafficking drugs inside the Parappana Agrahara central prisons on Wednesday.
The FDA has been identified as Gangadhar. He was reportedly taking the drugs by keeping them in his inner wear. The jail staff suspecting his behaviour upon checking found the drugs in his possession. LSD and Hashish oil has been recovered from him.
The jail staff immediately called the jurisdictional Parappana Agrahara police who went to the jail premises and arrested the FDA. The police have subjected him to intense questioning to ascertain the source of the drugs.
It may be recalled that the central prison has been in the news for all the wrong reasons for the last few days. Videos of the illegal activities inside the jail premises surfaced recently.
The Home Department has constituted an enquiry under the supervision of an Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) rank officer. A DIG rank officer is conducting the inquiry.
Gangadhar has been placed on suspension. The FDA was caught red handed by the jail’s security staff.
