Building collapse: 5 labourers killed in Pune

Pune: In an unfortunate incident, five people were killed as a structure of an under-construction building in Pune collapsed Wednesday night. The incident happened in the Shastrinagar locality of the Yerawada area in Pune. It was reported that seven others were injured after the slab of the structure at the basement of the underconstruction site collapsed. All the deceased and injured were labourers working at the site.

Pune Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta informed that the police have registered an FIR against a contractor and detained three people in connection with the death of five labourers at the construction site.

An order has been issued to set up a committee led by a senior officer to investigate the steel structure collapse incident. Prima facie, it looks support to the foundation of the structure failed. We’re taking the help of technical experts, Pune Municipal Commissioner further informed. (PTI)
