Do away with unscientific road humps

The Indian Road Congress (IRS) wanted to remove all unscientific road humps that have become accident-prone for two-wheeler riders and pillion riders. The traffic police consider road humps as speed breakers but these have become head breakers. Most of the road humps are unscientifically constructed. Many of them have become a hurdle for smooth movement of vehicles.

Some vehicles are getting damaged due to unscientific road humps. All roads in Bengaluru do not need road humps. I suggest construction of road humps for cross and sub-arterial roads in the city. These road humps have to be constructed scientifically to avoid two-wheeler riders getting injured or falling down from their vehicles while negotiating the humps.

The road humps should be constructed at a place that has proper lighting and visibility. The traffic police have to put up sign boards indicating that road humps are ahead. This will help motorists to slow down vehicles.

I suggest three layers of thermoplastic road painting to caution motorists about road humps. Another suggestion is using rubber speed humps which are more practical. These humps are used by the Delhi government and it has proved that these are more practical and useful. I recommend removing all unscientific road humps in Bengaluru for the benefit of motorists and ensuring smooth movement of vehicular traffic. I request traffic police of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) traffic engineering cell not to construct road humps indiscriminately.
