Keep your kids out of controversy, HDK advises parents

Former CM and Janata Dal (Secular) leader H.D. Kumaraswamy asked parents to be careful as political parties and a few organizations were using children in the ongoing hijab-saffron shawl controversy.

Talking to reporters in Chennapatna on Thursday, Kumaraswamy said the children of BJP leaders were not participating in the agitation but innocent children were made to wear saffron shawls and take part in the agitation. “The videos of innocent children being pushed into the agitation are available. Already, 10-12 FIRs have been registered against the children. The law enforcing agencies will drag children to court by holding the videos as evidence. Parents must be very careful and not allow their kids to fall in the trap of political parties”, he added.

Kumaraswamy said a few organisations have announced a cash reward for a minority community girl who raised slogans when a group of boys wearing saffron shawls shouted slogans. This was also a kind of instigation and so both parents and children must be very careful, he said.

On KPCC President D.K. Shivakumar’s allegation that a minister’s son had distributed saffron shawls in Shivamogga during the agitation on Tuesday, the JD(S) leader asked the Congress leader to keep all the facts before the public.
