US snowboarder Kim makes Olympic history

American snowboarder Chloe Kim made Olympic history on Thursday as the fi rst woman to win two gold medals in the halfpipe event.

The 21-year-old snagged the top spot in this year’s competition, following in her own footsteps — she previously won gold in the event at the 2018 games.

Kim, who has won every competition except for one since 2019, pulled off a series of tricky maneuvers to nab fi rst place. When she won the halfpipe at the PyeongChang Olympics, a then 17-year-old Kim became the youngest woman to win the gold medal for snowboarding.
