At a time when pro and against protests related to the hijab have been disturbing peace, city-based artist Rahul Manohara has come up with a painting depicting the message of equality and importance of education for students in achieving their goals. He sketched his creation on a wall near the veterinary hospital in Mysuru on Friday.

In his painting former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam is depicted lighting a lamp to symbolise education. He told News Trail that the source of his inspiration was Dr Kalam’s quote: “I use the candle of the Christian to light the lamp of the Hindu.” He has also painted an educational institution and a person in the centre with books, an open book and the nib of a pen, symbolising the importance of education.

Rahul has done his Bachelor’s in Visual Arts at the Ravi Verma School of Art in Mysuru. It took him two hours to complete the painting, he said.
