A special grant of Rs.20cr has been provided for various development works in Shiggaon town, the constituency of Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai. This is the first time such a big a m o u n t has been provided for the development of the constituency.
Greater importance is being given to the education sector which decides the future of children, said the CM after laying the foundation stone for a 750KV power distribution station for houses being built by Karnataka State Slum Development Board, construction of Kuruba Students’ Hostel and a Community Hall at Ganjigatti village in Shiggaon.
The grant has been released for comprehensive development of Shiggaon. This would give a big boost to industrialisation and in stabilising the power supply in Shiggaon, he said. The Chief Minister emphasised on the importance of the three EsEducation, Employment and Empowerment--for development of any community. The construction of a student hostel in this backdrop is most appropriate, he said.
The land of Kanakadasa and Santa Shis h u n a l a Sharief has the intrinsic quality of spirituality and equality. Kanakadasa’s message against the backdrop of the caste divide is relevant even today and we need to imbibe that spirit in our lives, Bommai said.
‘’Development of Shiggaon and Savanur is my mission. I have always been working for it. I will continue to do that in future too,” Bommai assured.
Thanking the Kuruba community for gifting him a black blanket and a sheep, the Chief Minister said that it symbolises the desire to serve others.
