Muslim family donates land for school in HD Kote

Mysuru: At a time when there have been huge for and against debates over the hijab, a heart-warming incident of a Muslim family of Maarchalli in HD Kote taluk donating their two acres 20 guntas of land worth Rs 60 lakh to the Government Higher Primary School of Baachegowdanahalli in HD Kote taluk of Mysuru district has surfaced.

“We have donated this land to the school, to help the students as per the last wish of our father, late Mohammed Jaafer,” said Mohammed Raakeeb, one of the four sons of Mohammed Jaafer.

“This school lacked space to build additional class rooms and they did not have playground too. While we own 12 acres of land, before our father’s death, he had communicated to us to donate 2.20 acres of land to the school,” Mohammed Raakeeb said.

Mohammed Jaafer’s sons got the land registered to the name of the school on Wednesday and fulfilled their father’s last wish. Meanwhile, authorities of school, children and their parents have thanked Jaafer’s family for their noble cause.
