KPCC President D.K. Shivakumar said the suspended padayatra seeking implementation of the Mekedatu project last month will resume after February 25.
The Congress party had temporarily stopped its padayatra after it reached Ramanagar City due to a sudden spurt in Corona positive cases. The state government had requested Congress leaders to temporarily call off their padayatra in the interests of citizens. Shivakumar and Leader of the Opposition Siddaramaiah had responded positively to the government’s plea and put off the padayatra temporarily. They had announced that the padayatra would resume from the same spot (where they had stopped) once the number of Corona cases came down. T he exact date would be finalised in a day or two, he added.
The Congress is planning to continue the padayatra from Ramanagara and conclude it in Bengaluru by holding a mega rally at National College Ground. They want to complete it before the commencement of the budget session of the state Legislature, he added.
