As Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) looks forward to preparing a ‘participatory budget’, the civic body on Friday sought suggestions from the public on preparing a people-oriented budget for the next fiscal. In a statement released by the BBMP on Friday, “BBMP’s Draft Budget preparation for the Year 2022-23 is in progress and the Public/Association can give their suggestions/ instructions regarding it. For that, a suggestion box is placed near the main gate of the BBMP head office. General public can give their suggestions through the suggestion box (until 03-03-2022).”
“Along with that, the public/ association can directly give their suggestions to the Budget cell of CAO’s (Chief Account Officer) office. Additional Commissioner (Finance) Sri Nagaraj Sheregar has requested all citizens to give their valuable suggestions. Public can also use the e-mail ID adcfbbmp@gmail. com to mail their suggestions,” the statement further reads.
According to reports, preparations are underway to draw up the city budget, with the BBMP head office collecting financial details of all works done, and cash in its kitty. It is claimed that the BBMP is working on Bengaluru’s budget, which is usually announced 15 days after the state budget. This year, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai is due to present the budget in the first week of March.
