Jayachandra takes a dig at CM for ignoring Bengaluru’s rain woes

Bengaluru: Former minister T B Jayachandra has accused Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai of not having any commitment when people are badly hit by unseasonable rain across the State.
“Our CM ‘sahib’ has time to attend two cinema programmes every week, but he did not have time to look at Bengaluru streets that have been ravaged because of incessant rains in the last 10- 15 days. The roads are filled with potholes everywhere, and the CM had been saying that repairs will be taken up after the rains stop. Till then should people use these roads risking their lives?”, he said here on Saturday.
Jayachandra demanded that Bommai visit rain-hit areas. “The CM has not done anything except holding a video conference with deputy commissioners’ of all districts on Friday. Need of the hour was to go on a state-wide tour to assess the situation. Unfortunately, the CM has no time for all these things since he has to attend two cinema-related programmes every week.
On Kar nataka State Contractors Association writing a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the alleged 40 per cent commission in government departments to bag the contracts, Jayachandra said Modi’s mask was slowly coming off. Incidents of the association writing to the PM were never heard in the past. This is the first time that the contractors have written to the PM. “I was part of the government for the past so many years and never came across such incidents”, he said.
Jayachandra said the incumbent government seems to have legalised corruption and the IAS officers were standing with folded hands seeking transfer. A protest would be held in Tumkuru against corruption in the government. “There are three irrigation corporations, each one of them has to clear the bills worth Rs 4,500 crore. Several contractors have fled the city unable to face debtors. Days of people hitting the streets are not far away”, he added.
KPCC Working President Salim Ahmed urged the central government to announce the ex-gratia of Rs 25 lakh to every farmer who died while protesting against the farm laws implemented by the Centre. “We will celebrate November 19 as Kisan Vijay Diwas across the State. PM Modi thought of himself as “Aham Brahmasmi” and tried to bring in new rules without the approval of anyone. But the farmers have taught a good lesson to the ‘dictatorial’ attitude of Modi. It is a victory of farmers and of democracy. This day will be remembered by the coming generation as farmers’ victory day.”
