Blackmail row: Auto driver attacked by friends

NT Correspondent

An auto driver was attacked on Monday night in DJ Halli police limits by his two friends over a video showing him sharing private moments with a transgender. The three were close friends and residents of AK Colony in DJ Halli. They all were in live-in relationships with transgenders.

Later, one of them, identified as Samuel (22), an auto driver, decided to part ways. The other two, who had earlier taken a video, started blackmailing him for money.

Samuel had repeated fights with the other two, Praveen alias Pune, 24, and Suresh, 22, for the last four months.

But on Monday, he decided to teach the two a lesson and confronted them, armed with a lethal weapon. However, he was soon overpowered and the duo used the same weapon to attack him. The incident happened on Tannery Road at around 10.45 pm.

“Samuel had come armed with a machete. But pulling his weapon, the accused had attacked and escaped,” said a police officer.

The DJ Halli police later arrested the two accused early Tuesday. Further investigations are on.
