Cyber crime: One arrested in Mysuru
Mysuru: The police have arrested a man for defrauding senior citizens by hacking into their online bank accounts under the pretext of helping them get a pension.
Two cyber crime cases were solved with this arrest. Mysuru district SP R. Chetan told media persons that as per the complaint fi led by one Puttananjamma on February 11, the accused had approached her on February 1 and introduced himself as a bank offi cial and offered to enrol her in a monthly pension scheme. He took her Aadhar card and told her make her left hand thumb impression on a biometric machine. He told her that she would get Rs 3,000 to her bank account from next month.
However on February 2, when she checked her bank account, Rs 4,100 was withdrawn on the previous day. Chetan added that the accused was nabbed on February 24. He confessed to being involved in a similar case in Haradooru village.
