Disclosing that it has been made mandatory for all universities to submit files online only using the ‘EOffice’ software platform. Higher Education Minister Dr.C.N. Ashwath Narayana has instructed officials of the department to return the files that arrive in physical format after the said date.

In a letter written to the Additional Chief Secretary of the department in this regard, he said “Universities were instructed earlier to submit all files through ‘E-Office’. But, it has come to my notice that some universities have not yet implemented E-Office despite prior instructions.”

He said though his office was functioning completely based on ‘E-Office’, letters, files, and proposals from Universities were still being sent in physical format. This has defeated the very purpose of implementation of ‘E-Office’, he added.

The objective of ‘E-Office’ is to enable speedy delivery of services and bring transparency in the system. Universities would become irrelevant if they failed to adapt to the current working style. A committee would be constituted to get a report within 15 days on digitalization, Unified University & College Management System (UUCMS) and the National Academic Depository (NAD) which are being implemented as per New Education Policy (NEP2020), the minister said.
