‘Utilise govt schemes for minority welfare’

NT Correspondent

The state government will chalk out programmes for the uplift of certain minority communities which are economically backward to ensure their development and also uphold social justice.

Speaking after virtually inaugurating Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Bhavan under the aegis of Department of Minorities Development here on Friday, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said in the current era, the welfare of minorities must be ensured so that they join the mainstream of society. In the current age of competition, the government and society must give new opportunities and facilities to children to ensure their growth at the international level.

The CM also said the programmes chalked out by the Minorities department must keep in mind the last man in society. Children have spanners in their hands instead of books and heavy bags on their back instead of school bags. Students of 8th, 9th and 10th standard must be guided about professional courses like IT, engineering, Civil Service exams and other competitive examinations. They must be explained the employment opportunities in these fields. Through proper counselling and guidance, the minorities and children from a poor background must be provided quality education and good jobs. This will ensure their economic and social empowerment.

New Education Policy
Referring to the New Education Policy (NEP) formulated by the Union Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the CM said it will help in building a conducive atmosphere for learning. This policy will lay the foundation for a new India. The NEP has been prepared after a thorough study and minorities must avail its benefits, he added.
