After Russia attacked Ukraine, air spaces have been barred and flights out of Ukraine have been cancelled. According to reports, more than 20,000 Indians are still stranded in the war-torn country. Back home, their panic-stricken parents are anxiously waiting for their return while the trapped people are running from pillar to post to escape the country. With diplomacy giving way to a full-blown battle between Russia and Ukraine, many Indian students already started flying out of the European country a few days back.

The Indian Embassy in Kyiv issued a notice on Thursday afternoon stating that the scheduled special flights were cancelled because the Ukraine air space was closed. Alternate plans to evacuate Indians are being arranged. In light of the closed air spaces, the government is contemplating other ways to evacuate Indian nationals.

But the ones left high and dry in a foriegn country under attack are wondering why did the government take so long to respond. And why was no evacuation arranged? Only those who could afford tickets of two lacks could leave the country. People took to tweeting to reach out for help and express their anguish.

People cannot blame the government. They did necessary action. It was the choice of people to stay. Why did they take the chance of staying?
