Prasidh rips through J&K; K’taka in the driving seat

Pacer Prasidh Krishna starred with a sixwicket haul to bowl out Jammu and Kashmir cheaply for 93 which led Karnataka to dominate in their Ranji Trophy Elite Group C match in Chennai on Friday.
Karnataka are in total control having extended the overall lead to 337 at the end of the second day.
With Man of the Series performance on his back in the recently concluded Ind vs WI series, confident Prasidh (6/35) rattled the J&K batting line up and bundled out within 30 overs.
Earlier in the day, resuming at the overnight score of 268 for 8, Karun Nair went on to score 175 (311b, 4*24, 6*1). His score helped Karnataka post 302 on the board, before being trapped LBW by experienced off-spinner Parvez Rasool (4/60).
In reply, J&K started on a decent note as openers Qamran Iqbal (35) and Jatin Wadhwan (25) added 55 runs for the first wicket before Prasidh invaded the J&K batters. In his willow breaking spell, Krishna took six of the seven wickets of his rival side.
Krishna removed Wadhwan and Shubam Pundir in quick succession before Shreyas Gopal chipped in dismissing J&K captain Ian Dev Singh for a duck.
J&K had no answers to the questions posed by the pacer, crumbling at 75 for seven when Prasidh Krishna had Abdul Samad (3) caught behind by Sharath BR.
Vidhyadhar Patil (2/10) and K Gowtham (1/5) gave the finishing touch by picking up the remaining wickets.
Coming out to bat for the second time in the day that too in a completely different situation, Karnataka got off to a shiny start with Samarth 62 (106b, 4*9) Devdutt Padikkal 49 (100b, 4*5) adding a 106 run stand before the latter was trapped in front off Abid Mushtaq.
Samarth was bowled by Mushtaq just before the stumps for a well-made fifty as Karnataka extended the overall lead to 337 runs ending day 2 on 128 for two.
With two days still to be played, Manish Pandey & Co are in a good position to grab those all-important six points.
