DKS travels by Metro, inspects rally grounds

Bengaluru: Senior Congress leaders led by KPCC President DK Shivakumar visited National College Grounds in Bengaluru on Saturday where the five-day Padayatra 2.0 will conclude on March 3.

Shivakumar, along with KPCC Working President Ramalinga Reddy, Leader of Opposition in State Legislative Council BK Hariprasad, Bengaluru Rural MP DK Suresh and others, boarded Namma Metro at the Majestic station and got down at National College Metro Station.

Traveling with fellow citizens, Shivakumar spoke to the commuters and sought their support for the Padayatra. Later, they inspected the arrangements at the college grounds.

DC denies permission for Padayatra
“We will take out the Padayatra come what may. Let us see who will stop our event, since it is apolitical and for the people’s cause. The Congress will go ahead with it”. Last time, the Ramanagar district administration had announced diversion of traffic to avoid inconvenience to the general public as the Padayatra had to pass through Bengaluru-Mysuru National Highway.

However, no such announcement has been made till date contending that permission was not given for the Padayatra, citing the need for Covid-appropriate behaviour. The Congress Padayatra is bound to cause problems to commuters on the highway, which has already been dug up at several places for the ten-lane Bengaluru-Mysuru Express Highway Corridor Project.

CM: Must follow rules
Meanwhile, CM Basavaraja Bommai told reporters on Saturday that the Congress leaders must follow the Covid protocol despite the drastic fall in Coronapositive cases.
