Traffic on the busy Mysuru-Bengaluru National Highway was thrown out of gear on Sunday following the padayatra by the Congress urging the state government to secure early clearance for the Mekedatu reservoir project in Ramanagar.

People retur ning to the state capital after the weekend, got caught in the never-ending traffic snarls from Maddur town. There was bumper to bumper traffic on the entire ten-lane highway. Traffic towards Bengaluru is usually more on Sundays with people returning after spending time in Mysuru, Kodagu, Ooty and other tourist destinations.

The express corridor work also restricted vehicular movement on the highway and extended the journey to 4-5 hours. Traffic is expected to become normal only after Congress leaders reach the Bidadi camp.
