Something fishy about Horamavu-Agara lake!

When fish start dying in the dozens, there’s definitely something fishy about the water they live in. This seems to be the case with the Horamavu-Agara Lake where dead fish have been noticed for the last four days.

“The lake is under rejuvenation. We are finding it difficult to even walk along the lake due to the stench,’’ said Venu N, a resident of Horamavu, adding, ‘’I have informed the BBMP Lakes Division about the dead fish.’’

Shashikumar V, another resident, said he noticed the dead fish a week ago. Lake activists too expressed concern over the death of fish and wanted the authorities to prevent the lake from getting polluted. “The contractor concerned must take measures to stop sewage or polluted water from entering the lake,’’ said a resident.

The BBMP lab technician Yoganand who collected water samples from the lake, however denied the possibility of sewage entering the lake. ‘’We have to wait for the lab report,’’ he added.
