Speaking after inaugurating the Atal Behari Vajpayee stadium at HSR Layout in Bommanahalli Assembly constituency here on Tuesday, the CM said Beng aluru is an international city which should have global standards. “I consider it my privilege to having received an opportunity to serve the city as minister for Bengaluru development. The city has grown and has extended to surrounding villages too and now has a population almost equal to Mumbai. However Bengaluru is growing horizontally while Mumbai has seen vertical growth. We have therefore decided to ensure the planned growth of Bengaluru”.

We will then be able to solve the drinking water problem of Bengaluru,’’ he said. Orders have been issued to prepare a DPR to resolve the water problem, extend the underground drainage(UGD) and storm water drains. About Rs 6000 crore has been provided for development of the city under the Nagarothana project. Approval has been given to prepare the DPR for the 3rd phase of the Metro project while the 2nd phase is nearing completion. It has also been decided to decongest major traffic junctions, he said.
HI-tech touch for the layouts

Such layouts would be given a hi-tech touch by providing easy access to civic services. “We want to redress all problems here and make HSR Layout a Smart Layout. People too would be involved in this task. All civic amenities will be provided to the 110 villages which have been brought under BBMP,” the CM said.
