
New prison to come up in Bengaluru Rural

New prisons(one in Bengaluru Rural), two Forensic Science Laboratories, 200 surveillance cameras, increase of insurance amount to fire force personnel, State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) company in Davanagere, all women Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) company, advanced equipment and mobile jammers in prisons are some of the budget proposals pertaining to the home department.
New Regional Forensic Science Laboratories having modern equipment in Hubballi and Ballari would start soon with required human resources to reduce time taken for laboratory tests. This is being done to ensure speedy generation of reports for investigating officers. Currently there is one FSL at Madiwala in Bengaluru and the new move will lessen its burden. A new mobility plan would be implemented at a cost of Rs 50 crore in the police department to respond quickly in emergency situations. Officers and other police personnel who are deputed for bandobast duty will have a barrack that would be constructed in Belagavi. Around 200 surveillance cameras would be installed in each of the five Police Commissionerates. A new women Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) company will be started.
The insurance amount will be increased from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 2 lakh for fire service personnel considering the risks.
