2 more bodies found at quarry landslide

The NDRF and SDRF teams and personnel of Fire and Emergency Services continued the search operations on Sunday to find the two bodies who went missing at the landslide site that occurred at White Stone Quarry in Madahalli village in Gundlupet taluk of Chamarajnagar district. Nearly 52 hours after they began the search, they found the bodies of Neerajuddin and Sarfaroz in the debris late in the evening.
The bodies were shifted to Chamarajnagar District Hospital for autopsy. The landslide occurred between 11.30 am and 12 noon on Friday.
The body of Azimulla that was found on Saturday was handed over to his relatives after an autopsy at the hospital. Three others, Francis, Nooruddin and Afroz who were injured in the incident, are recovering at the hospital. All the victims are natives of Uttar Pradesh, according to police.
Meanwhile, Chamarajnagar DC Charulatha Somal visited nine quarries around Madahalli in Gundlupet taluk on Sunday and checked their documents. She visited quarries in Koothanooru, Mallaiahnapura, Belachalavaadi, Hasagooli, Hireekaati, Thondavaadi, Arepura, Rangoopura, Bettadamaadahalli among others.
Chamarajnanagar District Minister V Somanna formed a team of officers led by the deputy commissioner on Saturday to identify illegal quarries in the district.
