Hubballi: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, who inaugurated the Regional Forensic Laboratory in Hubballi on Sunday, said a Narcotics Section would also be established soon. With DNA, Cyber, Mobile, Documentation and Audio-Video sections already opened at the FSL there is a need to establish the Narcotics section, he said adding that already, 80 scientists have been selected for recruitment and would be appointed at Hubballi and Ballari after training.
The law and law enforcing agencies should always be a step ahead of criminals and it is only then that crime can be controlled. The state police have done a commendable job in controlling the narcotics menace. Narcotic substances seized by the state police in the last one year are equivalent to the quantum of narcotics seized in 5 years in the rest of the country. The drugs seized were completely destroyed. The Karnataka police have booked the highest cases and made the highest arrests, Bommai said.
Most Modern Centre in NK region
The Regional Forensic Sciences Lab should become the most modern FSL in Northern Karnataka. Having a modern building is not enough, modern equipment and trained personnel are also needed, the CM said. The FSLs play a key role in crime detection. Earlier only Bengaluru had a FSL and it used to take 2-3 months to get DNA and Cyber Crime reports, he said.
Action has been taken for prevention of cyber crimes and a dedicated telephone number, ‘112’ has been established for immediate blocking of money transfer in illegal money siphoning cases if the victim dials the designated number immediately after getting the message on the illegal money transfer from his or her bank account. The account of the victim and the criminal would be blocked within 20 minutes and the money can be retrieved. It is a matter of pride that Karnataka is the first state to start this service, Bommai said.
Boost for local products
A FMCG Cluster would be established at the earliest and necessary orders have been issued in this regard. The land has been identified for the project and it will provide employment opportunities for youth from all financial backgrounds and academic strata in North Karnataka. A new Employment Policy would be formulated soon. Those who create more employment opportunities would be offered more incentives.
