The daughter of a Tamil Nadu minister has knocked the doors of the Bengaluru City Police Commissioner along with her husband seeking protection from her father. The couple who reportedly tied the knot much against the wishes of the minister, and now they fear for their lives.
They have approached Kamal Pant seeking protection.
Jaya Kalyani, daughter of P.K. Sekar Babu, Minister of Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department of Tamil Nadu married Satish Kumar at a mutt in Hoovinahadagali in Vijayanagar, Karnataka.
The two were said to be in deep love for the last six years. Kalyani had gone missing from Chennai since September 2021. A complaint was also filed in Tamil Nadu after she went missing.
Using his influence, the minister had managed to trace the couple at Pune and taken his daughter back home.
It is alleged that Kumar was kept under house arrest for the last two months. He managed to escape and reportedly eloped with Kalyani three days ago. The family members and relatives of Kumar are said to have been confined to their houses.
Due to these developments, the couple has sought help from the Bengaluru police commissioner.
Kalyani is a MBBS graduate, while Kumar is a diploma holder and businessman from Chennai.
“If we return to Chennai we are sure that we will not be alive. My husband was in illegal police custody for almost two months. We need protection from the police. Since we cannot get any help from the Tamil Nadu police, we have requested the Bengaluru police commissioner to consider our request and provide protection,” Kalyani told the media at the Commissioner’s office.
