Shane died of natural causes, shows autopsy
An autopsy report on Monday confirmed that Australia’s legendary cricketer Shane Warne had died from natural causes.
A report quoting Thai police said that the spinner’s family “have been informed” and that they “accept the finding”. “Today investigators received the autopsy result, in which the medical opinion is that the cause of death is natural,” the report quoting Thai deputy national police spokesman Kissana Phathanacharoen’s statement, said.
“Investigators will summarise the autopsy result for prosecutors within the timeframe of the law.”
Crowd of 1 lakh could attend Warne’s funeral at MCG
Shane Warne’s state funeral will be held at the iconic MCG in front of an expected crowd of 100,000 people in a fitting farewell to the Australian spin king in the next two to three weeks, according to reports.
The public memorial will be held after Warne’s family mourn him at a private service. Warne’s manager James Erskine did not confirm MCG as the venue for the state funeral but hinted that no other stadium would be an appropriate one considering the stature of the legendary Australian. “But where else?” Erskine told ‘The Age’.
According to ‘Herald Sun’, the state funeral is likely to be held within two or three weeks, which would overlap with the Australian Rules Football League (AFL) season, but the MCG “will make all necessary arrangements to accommodate the service.”
A date has not been fixed as Warne’s family waits for his body to be returned to Melbourne following his sudden death from a suspected heart attack at Koh Samui in Thailand on Friday. The MCG was Warne’s favourite ground and the scene of his famous hat-trick against England in the Boxing Day Test in 1994.
I love you so much Dad: Warne’s family speak out
Shane Warne’s family have spoken out following his sudden death, with his mother and father saying finding words to express their sadness is an “impossible task”.
In a statement issued on Monday, Keith and Brigitte Warne described the night of March 4 as the beginning of a “never-ending nightmare” for their family, and said their son’s death was a tragedy they would never come to terms with.
“To find words to adequately express our sadness is an impossible task for us and looking to a future without Shane is inconceivable, hopefully the mountain of happy memories we all have will help us cope with our ongoing grief,” the statement said.
The cricketer’s parents said the family have gratefully accepted the offer of a state funeral, and they were thankful, too, for the messages of love and support they had received. Son Jackson Warne said, “I don’t think anything is ever going to fill the void you have left in my heart.
“Sitting at the poker table, walking around the golf course, watching the Saints and eating pizza is never going to be the same,” he said. “But I know all you ever wanted for me is to be happy, no matter what. So, that’s what I’m going to do, try and be happy.
“I am going to miss you so much Dad and you were truly the best father and mate anyone could’ve asked for. I love you so much Dad, see you soon.”
