What started as a fight between two men over a girl ended in the killing of one of them. When the police swung into action to arrest the accused, he along with his associate attacked the policemen. In self-defence, the police resorted to opening fire at the legs of the two accused. The two along with three other gang members have been arrested by the Pulakeshinagar police. The two accused who sustained bullet injuries are identified as Syed Mohin and Adnan Khan. Both are undergoing treatment in Bowring Hospital. The two accused are rowdy-sheeters in KG Halli Police Station.

On Tuesday night around 11.30 pm, Sheikh Mohammed Usman, a resident of KG Halli, got into a fight with Mohin on Mosque Road in Frazer Town. The fight was over a girl. Usman had taken the same girl to a movie. This did not go down well with Mohin who lives in Shivajinagar. In the heated argument, Mohammed is alleged to have attacked Mohin. In retaliation, Mohin called his friends from Shivajinagar. The gang beat up Usman and went on to repeatedly stab him before fleeing. Usman was immediately rushed to Bowring Hospital where he succumbed to the injuries. The hospital, after registering a Medico Legal Case (MLC), reported the matter to the police.

The jurisdictional Pulakeshinagar police took up the case and formed a team to nab the accused. The police found out that the gang was hiding in Baiyappanahalli and Kalpalli Road. When the police team reached the spot around 5.30 am on Wednesday, the accused started attacking the police in which a constable got hurt.

When the accused did not surrender, the police opened fire at two of the gang members. The victim worked in a furniture store. He was a regular at a gym near his house where he had met the girl.

The Pulakeshinagar police have registered the case and are investigating it in detail.
