Four private gold finance firm employees arrested
Yeswanthpur police officials have arrested four employees of a private gold finance firm for allegedly stealing pledged gold and cash from the company. The police have identified the accused as Shankar, Monisha, Shivakumar and Amarnath.
The police said that the accused used to swap the gold items pledged by customers by making false entries into their software. Noticing discrepancies in their accounts, an audit was done and the branch conducted an internal enquiry, which unveiled the crime.
Afraid of being caught, the accused tried to stop the audit by cutting off power supply causing computer systems to shut down. However, the audit was completed, which revealed a discrepancy of over Rs 2 crore, sources said.
Based on the complaint filed, FIRs were registered against employees of the firm including its branch head, auditor, head manager and regional manager
