I n a bid to give a boost to the electoral prospects of the ruling BJP with the Assembly polls hardly a year away, veteran BJP leader and former CM B.S.Yediyurappa will embark on a statewide tour after the budget session to ensure the party wins at least 135 seats in the 2023 polls.

Participating in a debate on the state budget 2022-23 in the Legislative Assembly on Friday, he said the victory of the BJP in five states in the recently concluded Assembly elections, has boosted the morale of p a r t y workers. The charisma of Prime Minister Narendra Modi proved useful in winning the four states, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Manipur and Goa, he said.

Stop day dreaming
Yediyurappa urged Leader of the Opposition Siddaramaiah to stop dreaming about coming back to power in the State in the 2023 Assembly polls. Siddaramaiah may have to continue as opposition leader from 2023 to 2028 as the BJP is sure to continue in power in the state. “I will take the budget presented by Basavaraj Bommai and the work done by PM Modi to the people of Karnataka during my statewide tour”.

Intervening, Siddaramaiah said people of Karnataka have decided to give ‘rest’ to the BJP in the next Assembly elections as they have neglected Dalits, backward classes, farmers and others for two years under Yediyurappa’s tenure and seven months under Basavaraj Bommai. The BJP has failed to function to the expectations of people and so the electorate has decided to dump the party in the next election, he quipped.
