Tulasi Gowda opens Bahuroopi fest in Mysuru

Mother of lakh trees, Padmasri Tulasi Gowda of Honnaali village of Uttara Kannada district formally launched “Bahuroopi multilingual national theatre festival” of Rangayana by cradling a baby in Mysuru on Saturday evening. The fest is held with the theme of “Motherhood” at Vanaranga in Rangayana premises.

As many as 33 teams from across the country including 13 teams from other States are staging plays in the fest. Actress Tara Anuradha kickstarted the international film festival held as part of Bahuroopi, where 24 movies of various countries and languages from across the world, including five from India, are being screened.

Folk performances by 21 folk art forms, and three teams each from Nagpur Central zone cultural centre, Tanjore south zone cultural centre at the fest, exhibition of books and handicrafts, demonstration of indigenous arts and crafts by cottage industries, feast of indigenous foods at food fest are drawing huge crowd to Rangayana.

Actress Malavika Avinash, Mysuru district minister Mr S T Somashekar, Rangayana director, Addanda C Cariappa, deputy director of Rangayana Nirmala Matpathi, DC Dr Bagadi Gautham and others were present in the inaugural event. Bahuroopi was not organized last year due to Covid-19 pandemic.
