Bamboo Bazar fire: Cause still not clear

Officials are yet to ascertain the exact cause of the fire that broke out at the metro construction site near Bamboo Bazar in Shivajinagar on Saturday.
Police officials from jurisdictional Bharathi Nagar police station said that the store house where the fire erupted was filled with various mechanical parts, oil, cables, chemical canisters and other inflammable construction materials. “Some of the materials were destroyed due to the fire,” police said.
Metro officials at the site said that there were no casualties due to the incident.
Meanwhile the residents alleged that the workers at the metro construction site and dump waste materials outside their compound. “When the fire broke out, we heard three explosions. Possibly some cylinders might have exploded in the storage room,” said one of the residents near the site.
According to the police, the incident was reported around 4:30 pm on Saturday. Three fire tenders were deployed to extinguish the fire.
Police said a team of technical experts is trying to ascertain the cause.
