Newspaper vendors seek relief

BENGALURU: Newspaper vendors on Monday demanded the state government to allocate Rs 30 crore for the welfare of people selling, distributing and delivering newspapers who have incurred a huge loss during Covid pandemic.

Speaking to media persons, Karnataka Rajya Patrika Vitharakara Okkoota State President, Shambulinga has demanded Rs 3 lakh compensaton to the kith and kin of those died due to Covid and Rs 5,000 pension to distributors aged above 60 years and Rs 5 lakh relief to those who died due to other illness and medical assistance for those injured in road accidents.

He further demanded to recognise the distributors by awarding Kempegowda Award and Kannada Rajyotsava Award, scholarship to their children, BPL card and ESI facility since they don’t have fixed income.
