AAP seeks Rs 1 crore compensation

Aam Aadmi Party on Tuesday demanded Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai to provide Rs 1 crore relief to Ashwin’s family. Addressing a press conference, AAP’s Bengaluru unit President Mohan Dasari said that local legislator, BBMP Commissioner, and BWSSB Chairman are directly responsible for Ashwin’s death.

“We staged a peaceful protest on Monday condemning the negligence of the authorities concerned but police took us, including women volunteers, into custody. We condemn the police for misusing their authority,’’ Dasari said.

A AP’s state media spokesperson Jagadish Sadam said that people of Bengaluru paying tax to the BBMP to ensure good infrastructure in the city. “The priority of the BBMP is to build good roads without potholes, but most of the roads are filled with potholes,” he said.

GS Kushalaswamy, AAP women’s wing president said that some of those who died due to potholes were sole breadwinners for their families. “Even after the High Court’s directive to fill up potholes, the officials have failed to do their duty,” she said.
