Puneeth Rajkumar favoured name among recent newborns

Residents of Cox Town paid floral tributes to late Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar at a special event organised at Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Maternity Home in the locality on Wednesday

The function was organised by the Bharathinagar Residents’ Forum. Former MLC Tara Venu and Dr Rajkumar’s daughter Poornima were chief guests at the function. “I am very happy to pay floral tributes to the late Appu. Though Appu is not here with us physically, we can feel him in out amidst. He was the brand ambassador of Dr Rajkumar family. He helped many people during his lifetime,’’ said Tara.

Poornima Ramkumar, the daughter of late Dr Rajkumar, said that she was very happy to attend the function and name newborns after Puneeth Rajkumar. “I want people to celebrate late Puneeth Rajkumar’s birthday on Thursday. His last movie ‘James’ is scheduled for screening from Thursday. I want movie buffs to watch the movie,’’ said Poornima Ramkumar.

Feeling happy at the opportunity to meet Poornima Ramkumar and Tara Venu who named his son after Puneeth Rajkumar, Soundarya S, a resident of Nagawara who was admitted to the BBMP Maternity Home, said her family members are big fans of late Puneeth Rajkumar.

“I got depressed during the last rites of Puneeth Rajkumar on a TV channel. I was pregnant when Puneeth died of cardiac arrest. I and my family members watched many movies of Puneeth Rajkumar,’’ said Soundarya, adding that she was fortunate enough to reside only a few kilometres away from Dr Shivarajkumar’s residence near Manyata Tech Park.

A number of residents and volunteers distributed fruits, bread and milk to women at the BBMP Maternity Home on the occasion. “I have to thank the organisers for providing milk, bread and fruits to us. The event helped me meet Dr Rajkumar’s daughter Poornima and actress Tara Venu. We got the opportunity to pose for a photograph with them,’’ said a mother.

Meanwhile, Bharathinagar Residents’ Forum president NS Ravi said that they had also entertained Parvathamma Rajkumar, Raghavendra Rajkumar and Mangala Raghavendra in the past. “Now, I am very happy to have Poornima Ramkumar and Tara Venu amidst us to pay floral tributes to late Puneeth Rajkumar,’’ said NS Ravi.
