A Bengaluru-based theatre artiste was attacked brutally with acid while she was sleeping on the verandah of her house near Nandini Layout in Bengaluru. The incident took place on Friday afternoon, when Rohini (name changed) was resting at her house.
Police officials from Nandini Layout have now arrested three accused in connection with the incident. The accused have been identified as Ramesh, Swati, and Yogesh. Preliminary investigation by the police revealed that the accused were colleagues of the victim from theatre.
Police said that acid was poured three times on the victim, while she was resting in the verandah.
During the interrogation, the perpetrators claimed that Rohini was attacked because she had destroyed Ramesh’s life, after which his wife and children had left him.
It was revealed that Ramesh had confided his problems to Swati, who then introduced him to Yogesh and the trio hatched a plan to destroy the victim.
Ramesh procured acid from Yogesh for Rs 10,000. Later all three of them went to the victim’s house to attack her.
The victim’s face and internal organs have been badly damaged and she is currently battling for life at Victoria Hospital.
