BMA to tackle challenges from big biz
NT Correspondent
As the Bengaluru Merchants Association(BMA) celebrates its fourth anniversary on Wednesday, members of the association are gearing up to face the challenges from MNCs effectively with the launch of an App which will help traders and retailers counter the ‘intrusion’ of big business and corporates into the retail segment effectively. The App will be launched by Mr Jaffer, IAS on the occasion.
Formed in 2017, BMA h a s t a ke n upon itself the responsibility of protecting small businesses f r o m g i a n t corporates who now even determine pricing of commodities, and is also determined to ensure that consumers receive the benefits of fair pricing.
The association feels the time has come for traders to stop being used by the government as a means of adding to its revenue through GST and Income Tax while being ignored when it comes to fulfilling their demands and solving various problems. Traders and merchants are always at the mercy of bureaucrats and often get caught in legal tangles too, says a release.
The Association knows how valuable the services of its staff are and to make sure that they are protected from any exigency, BMA is planning to introduce an insurance scheme for such employees. Association secretary P.V. Ashraf has stressed the need for merchants to remain united so that they are able to effectively counter the threats to their means of livelihood in the days to come.
The anniversary event will be held at CMA Palace on Hegdenagar Main Road.
