According to the information available, for cutting a tree in Bengaluru, it is mandatory to submit an application to BBMP’s Tree Officer about the number of trees to be cut and the reasons. The officer then visits the site before granting permission. It is against the law to cut a tree, whether it is in your own backyard or on public property, without obtaining BBMP’s approval.

“We have booked a case against management and they have to pay a fine for the illegal act and do compensation planting. We have also asked them to remove cement from the sport and they have agreed,” said Hanumanthappa Patil, RFO, BBMP.
