Bengaluru: The Prime Minister’s Office seems to be keeping a keen watch on the happenings in rain-devastated Karnataka and Bengaluru in particular with PM Modi speaking to Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai over phone Tuesday evening, a day after calling him late on Monday night. The PM asked the CM for comprehensive data on crop loss and other damage caused by the unseasonal rain amid speculation that it was the PM’s first call that prompted the CM’s tour to rain-affected areas.

Bommai explained the extent of loss of human lives, damage to crops and public property to the PM, who not only expressed concern over the havoc caused by flooding, assured all assistance from the Centre to take up relief and rehabilitation measures.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah too called up Bommai and obtained information on the flood situation and relief work. Bommai briefed Shah on the relief measures, said sources
