Jadeja’s CSK face KKR’s Shreyas in opener
Chennai, one of the most consistent sides since the tournament’s inception in 2008, defeated Kolkata to lift their fourth IPL title last year and Saturday’s season-opener will be a repeat of the 2021 final. Kolkata will have a chance to take revenge on Saturday at the Wankhede Stadium, which overlooks the Arabian Sea, with both sides going into this year’s edition under new captains.
Moeen has arrived in India and will be available for Super Kings’ second game, against Lucknow Super Giants on March 31, after undergoing quarantine for three days. In the absence of Moeen, New Zealand batter Devon Conway is likely to make his IPL debut.
For KKR, the likes of Venkatesh Iyer, Varun Chakravarthy, Pat Cummins, Andre Russel have spent enough time together in UAE. Moreover, skipper Shreyas Iyer walks into the side with tremendous form. He accounted for three consecutive fifties against Sri Lanka recently.
CSK spent a whopping amount of money for Deepak Chahar, however, as per reports, he is likely to miss the major chunk of the tournament due to injury. It will be interesting to see who replaced him in the playing XI.
